Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

I would have liked to gather some more information from you in order to be able to help her better.

--Do you have any abnormality in your menstural cycles? Are they regular or irregular?
--Do you also suffer from Coarse Facial Hair?

Polycystic Ovarian disease is always a possibility that has to be ruled out in females with Acne. PCOD in females classically presents with signs of hyperandrogenism e.g Acne , Hirsutism, Hair fall, Irregular menstural cycles along with Cyst on Ultrasound.

--Specific Treatment for PCOD is with oral monthly hormonal pills/OCPs(Oral contraceptive pills) e.g Ethinyl estradiol and cyproterone acetate pills are available as a pack of 21 tablets.

If I was the treating doctor I would have asked you to use a topical antiacne gel like either clindamycin or benzoyl peroxide gel once or twice daily in addition to oral antibiotics e.g either doxycycline or azithromycin and continued it for 4-12 weeks depending on the severity of acne and response to treatment.

A topical antiacne gel e.g clindamycin or benzoyl peroxide gel is also advisable for twice daily application. Benzoyl peroxide is antibacterial as well as keratolytic.

It would be better if you use a gentle cleanser for face wash e.g cetaphil cleansing lotion rather than using a soap.

regards
