Can The Bumps Like Spider Bites Be Hives Or Allergy Rash?

I have 2 boys ages 5 and 7, the mother and I are no longer together and live in separate cities. My 7 year old son has constant itching for quite some time now and every time they come visit me for the weekend I get what looks like bug bites (around 8 or 9 of them) that resemble a spider bite by look and itch consistency. My ex has brought them to a doctor a few different times now and is told its not bug bites but that its hives or allergy rash, that doesnt explain why i only get bites when they come up. I think it may be a microscopic bug of some sort. It shows up as a bite resembling a spider bite, after rigorous itching it seems to stop itching for an hour or so and then starts back up, a couple days after the kids go back to their mothers i dont have anymore itching till the next time they come up and its only my 7 year old and not my 5 year old. Any ideas on what it may be or what I should do?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history your son is probably having papular urticaria.
My treatment advice is -
1. Wear full sleeve clothes to avoid further such episodes.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like Fusiderm B cream.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
