Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. Nexium is esomeprazole a proton pump inhibitor which is a good drug for gastritis and GERD. If you have heart burn and reflux of gastric acid regularly then you are most likely having GERD. I usually give domperidone sustained release preparation along with proton pump inhibitor for GERD. You should also have a life style modification including diet. Don t lie down straight after food. Try to have food 2 hours before sleep. Raise your head portion with a comfortable pillow. Also avoid carbonated drinks like cola , fatty fried and greasy foods. Fermented foods and gas forming foods also should be avoided. Take adequate fibres daily to have a regular bowel movement. A consultation with a gateroenterologist is well appreciated if the condition persist even after this, to rule out problems like motility disorder. Hope this may help you.
