Can Taking Augmentin-amox TR-KCLV Be Safe As An Alternate To Biaxin?

my husband is allergic to biaxin and he has been prescribed augmentin -amox TR-KCLV 500-125 mg for a sinus infection. Does it have the same composition as biaxin? He is a patient of malignant hyperthermia and after having biaxin his muscles had collapsed.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Biaxin (Clarithromycin- Macrolide antibiotic,) has different composition from Augmentin -amox TR-KCLV 500-125 mg which contains amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium-Aminopenicillin antibiotic.
Clarithromycin can very rarely cause malignant hyperthermia (0.01%).
