Can Stopping Hydrochlorothiazide Cause High Bp, Dizziness And Swelling?
I have not been feeling very good lately...I had been taking hydochlorothiazide (12.5 mg.) for my elevated blood pressure; but in the last month and a half, I let my prescription lapse because I just could never get to the pharmacy to pick it up, and because I was kind of thinking of trying to stop taking the medication altogether. I have noticed in the last few days, though, that my legs, feet and ankles are much more swollen than they used to be, and I have been experiencing mild dizzy spells. And today at the Osco drug store that I go to I took my blood pressure in one of those automatic blood pressure cuffs, and it was 149/100. Is it because I stopped the hydrochlorothiazide?

Medications for blood pressure control should not be stopped without doctors advice. All your symptoms are due stopping medication. Consult your doctor.
