Can Staphylococcus Prevent Conception?

Doctor, Please I want to know if Staph can prevent a woman from getting pregnant? I and my wife have been having sex for 1 year now but she is yet to conceive. So she went for a medical test and the result shows she has heavy growth of staph, and I was asked to come for my test too, after the test the result shows I have moderate growth. We have been worried if it will prevent us from having kids. However we are on treatment now, and the second test my wife did last week shows scanty growth. I will be very glad to hear from you.

Hallow Dear,

Staphylococci infection alters the vaginal atmosphere to hostile atmosphere for the sperms. Hence, the sperms cannot survive; so naturally, the conception is not possible.

Moreover, this infection if has reached up to the tubes may block the tubes rendering the woman infertile.

You are also having this infection. So your semen quality could have been affected.

Now both of you are on the treatment. Once your infection is cured, please get your semen examination done for the quality of the semen. Also get her tubal patency test done; hysterosalpingography and/or Laparoscopy can provide you this information. Laparoscopy also can provide you information about any infective damage to other pelvic organs.

I hope tis provides you some guideline.
