Can Spreading Sore Behind Ears Be Indication Of MRSA?
My grandson came home from wrestling with a nasty looking sore behind his ear. His Doctor at first treated for ring worm with a salve to no avail. The infection seemed to spread quickly to the front of his ear Doctor now has on additional antibiotic, I m worried about potential of MRSA and would like to know are we still in a safety zone to try different treatments or should he be tested for MRSA and begin treatment for that.If so who in the Cumming/Atlanta would specialize in that kind of diagnosis and treatment?
I can understand your concern for spreading sore behind ears in your grandson. There can be multiple possibilities of the lump and it requires a close physical examination to diagnose the exact entity of the problem.
In my view correlating with the facts you have provided it appears to be simple bacterial infection called as impetigo so do not worry about any serious possibility in the same.
I suggest you to meet a dermatologist to for proper antibiotic therapy. In between you should wash the area properly and apply an antibiotic cream such as mupirocin or fucidin.
All the best
