Can Spilling Nail Polish Remover On The Vagina Cause Any Side Effects?

Hi my girlfriend spilt nail polish on her legs and needed me to clean it off in a panic and cause I didn’t know what I was doing I needed up putting too much nail polish remover on the cotton wool pad and it ran down her leg into her vagina, she said it felt like burning and went in the shower and washed it with cold water and is now not burning. What should we do??

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Nail polish remover on a cotton swab, moved on the full leg followed by vagina, must have exhausted much of the liquid on swab. Fortunately, burning has gone after wash. But still possibility of injury to vaginal mucus membrane remains. Let her take frequent cold washes and apply soothing agents like body moisturizer or Glycerin/Magnesium Sulphate, in case there are sores.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
