Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. Two weeks ago I was ill for about four days: discomfort in stomach, complete loss of appetite, sulphur taste, excess belching (I normally never burp or belch), vomited once bringing up food after about 18 hours not eating. Milder similar symptoms occurring today. I was prescribed a low dose page of Metformin and Lipitor 90 days ago when diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Could this be a delayed and sporadic reaction to the Metformin?

Can Side Effects Of Metformin Cause Illness?
Hello, It could be due to gastritis secondary to acid reflux. As a first line management you can take antacids like omeprazole or pantoprazole for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persists you can consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated. Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
