Can Pseudoacanthosis Nigricans Be Cured?

Hi, ok I went to a dermatologist today for my dark neck and armpits but they told me it’s “Pseudo-acanthosis migricans” and that it probably has to do with my genes and there’s nothing that can be done but it really bothers me because I wear clothes that shows my shoulders and neck and it’s throwing my confidence down the drain. So is there anything that can help it get better.Thank you

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Pseudo acanthosis nigricans may be due to insulin resistance, hypothyroidism, obesity with excessive sweating or hypercortisolismus etcetera.

Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is. Please check your endocrine function status and consult your endocrinologist so that he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
