Hello Welcome to Health Care Magic.
Don't worry much. Stay calm.
she has taken i pill so you have done all you can. After taking I pill periods should come within maximum limit of one week later than usual dates. If delayed more than that go for pregnancy test.
As you said about emergency contraception is true but i prefer not to take emergency contraception regularly. When it is planned take oral contraceptive pills of full month. And condom is better option which saves you from acquiring sexually transmitted infections like HIV, herpes, hepatitis B. Even vaginal sponges are helpful equally.

Hope this information helps you.
Best wishes.
