Can Perforated Ear Drum And Fungal Infection Spread To The Brain?

I have a perforated ear drum and a fungal infection and have been seeing an ent specialist. He has given me drops and now has filled my ear with a white creamy solution. I have had severe headaches and pain in my throat. I trust this Dr. but would like to know if this type of situation can spread to the brain.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

In severe ear infections which spread to involve the surrounding bone, there can be further spread to the brain rarely.

This is not a common occurrence but it is a possibility.

Infections of the ear can be associated with headaches and sore throat without brain involvement however so you ENT doctor can treat these.
It is possible that only pain medication may be needed.

I hope this helps
