Can Herpes Be Contracted Through Non-penetrative Sex?

Hello. I have been completely monogamous with my wife my entire life. However, a month ago on a business trip, I was with some swingers . This woman touched the penis of a couple men, then gave me a hand job. I fingered her vagina by putting the tip of my finger in her. I did not have intercourse of any kind (oral, vaginal, or anal). It was mutual masturbation that lasted about 5 minutes. I took a shower immediately after this. I am very worried about having picked up something like genital herpes. Is that possible from what I did? Should I get tested?

Hello. Thank you writing to us at healthcaremagic

Herpes is usually transmitted by direct intimate contact, sexual or non-sexual e.g kissing and any form of penetrative sex.
Possibility of getting genital herpes is very unlikely by this particular form of sexual act.
There is a very remote possibility of herpes provided the men she touched had active herpes sores and the virus was transmitted through the hands to your genital skin.
However, to rule out even the slightest of doubts, I suggest you to get yourself tested for antibodies against the virus by a blood test i.e Hsv ELISA.
Circulating antibodies against the virus make an appearance earliest at 7-10 days of infection with herpes virus and therefore you can take up this test by 2 weeks following this particular incident to rule out a possibility of Infection, no matter how remote.
