Can Hepatitis B Vaccination Have Adverse Effects During A HIV Test?

I was wanting to know if the hep B titer vaccination would have an effect on an hiv test? Also would having hepatitas C and not knowing affect the hiv test? I had a hep b vaccine 3 doses, last dose approx. 2 months before risk, tested with alere determine hiv 1/2/ ag/ab combo p24 antigen and antibody screening finger prick test wich testing sight claimes to be 99.8 percent accurate with a window period of 16 days. I tested three times all negative. I tested 9 days after risk, 86 days after risk, and again today 107 days after risk. All negative/ non reactive. would any of the above affect the results and render further testing? Can I be safe in assuming I am hiv -?

Hello

I can understand your concern. Vaccines for Hepatitis and HIV check for the specific antibody present against that virus in your blood. Thus, there is no chance that vaccine for Heaptitis can affect your testing for HIV.

If you wish too be 100% certain regarding being HIV negative, you can go for one last test with window period of 120 days. If that comes negative, you are HIV negative for sure and do not have to worry about it until other circumstances arise where you can get infected with HIV.

I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
