Can Hematoma Cause Lethargy And Its Treatment?

17 mth old stood up in highchair then fell onto floor. She cried immediately. Huge hematoma formed as soon as she hit the floor. No vomiting. Told my friend to apply ice pack look for signs of lethargy, n/v, inability to hold head up and to awaken her every hr or so w/in next 24 hrs when napping. Does she need to go to see MD at this time?

Hi
Welcome to the healthcaremagic
Normally falling from high chair doesn't cause serious head injury.Look for vomiting, ENT BLEED,excessive sleepiness. These symptoms suggest internal bleeding in which case you need to rush to ER.In your case since large hematoma had developed it is advisable to consult doctor to rule out internal injury
Happy to help you
Best regards
