Can Drinking Excess Alcohol Cause Coughing?

My brother has been drinking beer since he was a teenager. He is now in his early 50's. He tends to drink 3 to 4 cans of beer almost every day. He gets the large cans. Anyway, he coughs most every day. It's annoying to me to hear this cough. I don't think it's healthy to be drinking beer. I want him to be healthy and when I ask about the cough he says it's from his sinuses. I always tell him to get a yearly check up but he doesn't do so. I am just concerned. Can fluid build up in him and make him cough? Thanks.

Yes, and yes. Alcohol in large excess harms immunity. Predisposes to infections and prevents you from getting over infections. Like in sinuses.
