Infectious conjunctivitis usually resolve with antibiotics within 10 to 15 days maximum.
If your conjunctivitis is not resolving for long following could be the possiblity.
1) if is associated with only
redness and itching or burning seansation and no pain or glare and aggrevates in presence of dust or dirt or any other particular allergen(eg particular flower ir pollen or sand or fur etc) then it could be
allergic conjunctivitis .following will help.
a) avoid particular allergen(dust or dirt etc)
b) maintain eye hygiene.avoid putting fingers in eye frequently and wash them with water
c) If you are using
contact lens please stop using them for a while
d) avoid using mascara or eyeliner or any cosmetic in eye for a while
e)
eye drop flurbiprofen(flur) will reduce redness; 3 times a day
for 15 days (one drop each)
eye drop olopatadine(olopat) will take care of itching.2 times
day for 1 month
eye drop soft drops will give soothing effect. 4 times a day for
1 month
In case its not improving at all within 15 days of starting treatment i would suggest you to have eye check up to rule out giant papillaes or concretions on inner side of eye lid i.e palpebral conjunctiva
2) If it is associated with pain n
photophobia then corneal involvement is to be checked.so thorough eye examination is must
3) if you dont have any white or yellow discharge then stop the antibiotics (
neomycin and polymyxin)you are using.
