I have been suffering from what I believe is acute bronchitis, I have quit smoking since I started having shortness of breathe due to the bronchitis. I can barely breathe most of the time and just walking makes me go out of breathe, I have been taking omega 3 and eating raw onion, fruit and vegies and lots of fluids and rest. But it is not getting better, I have been in my back when I breathe and my ventolin puffer only works for a very short period of time before I want to use it again but heard OD'ing on ventolin causes heart problems... I am not sure whether this is bronchitis atm or pnuemonia... what is your diagnoses?
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. You are not improving in breathlessness because you are not taking proper treatment. Ventorlin is having salbutamol. It is short acting beta 2 agonist (SABA). It's action lasts for only 1-2 hours. So you are not getting Complete improvement. Treatment of bronchitis is based on severity. So better to consult pulmonologist and get done PFT (pulmonary function test). PFT will tell you about severity of the disease. You should start newer longer acting beta 2 agonist (LABA) (salmeterol or formoterol) and inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) (fluticasone or budesonide). Don't worry, you will be alright with all these these newer drugs. Consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
