Can Antibiotics For An UTI Delay Menstruation?

Hi, a week after my last period I was prescribed profloxin for a uti infection. I m now 5 days late for my next period(I am also trying to concieve) I have mild cramps in my lower tummy and back occasionally as if my period is going to start but nothing. I was wondering could I be pregnant? Or could have the antibiotics affect my cycle, I am pretty regular. Thanks.

Hi,

Profloxin is unlikely to delay the menstruation. Profloxin is commonly prescribed to treat various infections caused by susceptible bacteria including UTI. Its common side effects include vomiting, abdominal pain, tendonitis and joint pains. It is unlikely to delay the menstruation. Get your home pregnancy test done.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
