Can Voltaren Cause Swollen Hands And Feet?

Is swelling of the hands and feet a side effect of the generic drug for Voltaren? I was taking one a day for about a year and didn t think it was helping my Arthritis, mostly for knee pain/inflammation. I stopped taking it 2 weeks ago and am now sore and stiff all over! Still some hand swelling, stiffness. I m wondering if I should take it again because I was a lot less stiff and sore.

Hello,

I read your message carefully and I understand your medical issue.

Let me recapitalise your case: you have been taking Voltaren for about a year with a single daily dose to help arthritis symptoms of pain and inflammation. You stopped the drug two weeks ago.

Now you experience hand and feet swelling and stiffness.

Swelling of face, ankles and hands are evidenced as a common side effect of Voltaren since the beginning and not after one year of using it.

Voltaren is a non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug used to relief the pain and inflammation of arthritis. If you can not tolerate aspirin you must not take this drug because it is similar to aspirin and may cause the same adverse effects. Make sure to tell your doctor if you suffer from any blood or heart disorder and what drugs you take.

In your case, it seems that Voltaren has not caused the symptoms. You are experiencing more swelling and stiffness beacause you stopped the drug that was helping you relieve these symptoms related to inflammation.

It is a must to continue with other anti inflammatory drug to control your arthritis symptoms, so an immediate consultation with rheumatologist is required.

Hope this was helpful
