Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can I take utovlan when I m on my period? I was due on on Sunday but started earlier and I m going on holiday tomorrow and I want it to stop for that time. I was told to take it 3 days before I m due on but I came on early, so can I take it now and will it stop?
You can take drugs containing progesterone like norethisterone. In order to delay periods you need to take the drug 3 to 5 days before the expected date of periods. You can take the drug for 7 to 10 days. You will not bleed during these days. After stopping the drug, withdrawal bleeding occurs in a few days.
Combined pills can also be taken if you have previously taken the drug. If not consult with your gynaecologist before taking the drug.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
