My daughter has been prescribed Tessalon perle, 100 mg., along with Mucinex DM...as well as prednisone(10 mg..for 5 days..starting out with 5 on first day, then 4, etc), Q-var 80 mcg once/day( 2 puffs in am), and ventolin inhaler 120mcg( 2 puffs q 6h) for a resistant sinus infection and cough...Dr. feels that since a 7 day course of Amoxicillin 500mg tid didn t work, that it must be viral and not bacterial, although sinuses seem to be clear, cough persists, and has been for approximately 4 weeks...I wasn t familiar with Tessalon and after researching it, I m feeling that the Mucinex DM, along with this may be way too much. What is your professional opinion about this? Thank You.
