Can Pseudoephedrine And Doxycycline Be Taken Together?
I just started taking Doxycycline today for a strange respiratory infection,( similar to a cold) marked by wheezing and shortness of breath that could be moving into bronchitis also, seasonal allergies are breaking out with the warm weather. Is it advisable and safe to take Psudoephedrine HCI 60mg to reduce phlegm ?
Since there are no documented harmful interactions between Pseudoephedrine and Doxycycline so they may be taken together as prescribed. Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant commonly used for the symptomatic relief of stuffy nose and sinus pain/pressure caused by infection (such as the common cold, flu) or other breathing illnesses (such as hay fever, allergies, bronchitis).
However, it is not effective in relieving the wheezing and shortness of breath and for that, you need to consult your treating doctor for certain effective medications such as bronchodilators (Salbutamol or Chromoglycate).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
