Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wife has taken 4 Primolute N 5mg tabelts for postponing the periods. But we are undergoing treatment of infertility. this is the first month in which we have done all things properly for getting pregnant after a Laproscopy. while doing sonography doctor said something has happened due to Primolute. wife has not proper bleeding while periods. my concern is can this affect the growth of featus?
Hi, primolut is itself a hormone (synthetic progesterone) ,as it causes changes in uterine wall (endometrium) to counter act shedding of endometrium and stops menses,so the missed period. But as conceiving happens due to first changes in ovary (fertilization of ova and sperm) then progesterone helps further growth of fetus. As having synthetic progesterone can cause changes in hormones so the ovulation and fertilization. If you plan for conceiving you should stop having primolut. Hopefully my answer is helpfull.
