Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i ve been taking 10 mg vesicare daily. it seems to be less effective the last month or so. can i switch to oxybutinin for awhile to see if it is more effective. I used to take oxybutinin when needed- now i need the medication every day Also I was taking 5 mg vesicare and when it became less effective i began taking 10 mg now as I said above the 10 mg do not do the job anymore.,
Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns. Oxybutynin, an anti-cholinergic drug is used to relieve urinary and bladder difficulties, including frequent urination and inability to control urination (urge incontinence), by decreasing muscle spasms of the bladder.ADULTS (immediate-release tablet )dose: PO 5 mg twice a day to thrice a day (max, 5 mg four times a day). Vesicare (solifenacin succinate) is a muscarinic receptor antagonist, used also for overactive bladder with symptoms of urgency, frequency, and leakage. The recommended dose of vesicare is 5 mg once daily, increase to 10 mg once daily if needed. Both the drugs have similar actions;since drug efficacy may differ you can take Oxybutinin in place of Vesicare in standard doses as mentioned.
