Can Oleanz, Fluoxetine And Olanzapine Be Taken By Youngsters?
Hi Dr. Mintz, My sister is 22 years old and is prescribed with Oleand Plus (Fluoxetine- 20mg + Olanzepine 5mg) just yesterday. We took her to a Psychiatrist to be treated for depression. Do you think this medication is good to be taken by youngsters? Thank you.

Fluoxetine is a SSRI group drug, acts by increasing serotonin concentration in brain. The drug is a good anti-depressant drug. Olanzapine is an anti-psychotic drug. The drug is used in psychotic disorders and it is also a good mood stabiliser in low doses. She has been given fluoxetine 20 and olanzapine 5 mg and this is a good dose. The drug can be taken by youngsters. Both are approved to use. No risk to take the drugs.
