Can Multaq Be Taken For The Treatment Of Arrhythmia?

I’ve been off Flecainide for 3 days today due to doctor changing to Multaq. Is that long enough or should I wait another day? It helped PVCs, etc but has started palpitations/racing every nite for couple of hours. Also, is Multaq safe for arrhythmia?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Flecainide acetate an anti-arrhythmic agent used to prevent and treat tachyarrhythmias (abnormal fast rhythms of the heart). It is used to treat a variety of cardiac arrhythmias. Multan is composed of 'Dronedarone', which is also as an antiarrhythmic drug. It is used if you have had certain types of irregular heartbeat in the past but now have a normal heart rhythm. It helps you keep a normal heart rhythm and lowers your chance of having to go to the hospital for atrial fibrillation.
Kindly take the medication as suggested by your doctor. Do the necessary follow-up as advised.
Hope the information provided helps.
All the best.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.
