Can Modalert And Xanax Be Taken Together?

I ve started taking Modalert 200mg in the morning. It really helps me stay focused throughout the day. Although I have severe social anxiety, I m thinking to adding Xanax (alprazolam) in my daily supplements. Should I be taking both of them together or after some interval?

Hi,
Modalert (modafinil) will help you in focusing and increasing concentration. But Xanax (alprazolam) is a benzodiazepine that can interfere with Modalert's action.
Xanax can definitely help you in social anxiety but can cause sedation and interfere with Modalert's action. I would suggest you to use xanax during later part of the day or use low dose in the morning and higher doses during later part of the day.
The interaction between the above two drugs is not clearly defined. I would strongly advice you against any self medication. Do consult your doctor before beginning the therapy of xanax and take the medications as prescribed only. You can discuss the above information with your healthcare provider. Thanks for writing into healthcaremagic. Have a wonderful day.
