Can MRCA Be Transmitted Sexually?

Husband has mrca (huge gash on his foot) and I have been helping him take care of it. I wash my hands alot, use sanitizer, etc. He is very unhygienic. My question is, since we have unprotected sex (after both of us are showered) can it be transmitted to me through sex? Or how about since we share a bed?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

MRSA can be transmitted from skin to skin contact. It is not that the infection will be transmitted from penis to vagina but the infection can get transmitted from the wound on his leg and during sex both of you undeniably share a close hug and cuddle. So sex is not the absolute act by which there is transmission of MRSA but chances of of infection spread can exist by close physical skin contact which includes sharing the bed.
