Internal Medicine Specialist, Dr. Malik's Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Citalopram is an antidepressant medicine belongs to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor group and Lorazepam belongs to benzodiazepine medications which is used to treat mostly anxiety disorders or seizures. These medicines can be taken together but the concomitant use usually increases side effects of both medicines. If you experience drowsiness, confusion, and difficulty concentrating you should consult your doctor. Also avoid alcohol while on these medications and avoid activities that require mental alertness (e.g. driving).
I hope the above information will be helpful for you. Please, feel free to ask me if there is anything else you need to know.
Thank you,
Malik Amonov MD
