Hi & Welcome.
I can understand your concern regarding the safety of Lisinopril while having allergy to sulfur.
Lisinopril is an angiotensin converting enzyme (
ACE inhibitor) commonly prescribed to treat
high blood pressure (
hypertension) and congestive
heart failure.
Generally it is well tolerated however it may cause an irritating dry cough, dizziness, and rarely angioedema (swelling of the lips, eyes, and larynx).
Lisinopril does not contain any sulfur. Sulfur containing drugs include antibiotics (sulfonomides, dapsone, etc) the diuretics (furosemide,
hydrochlorothiazide, etc) and others.
Sometimes Lisinopril is combined with Hydrochlorthiazide to have an additive BP lowering effects in that case there is a high chance of allergic reactions. Most people who are allergic to sulfur are allergic to Hydrochlorthiazide also.
So, as long as you take Lisinopril alone there's nothing to worry about such type of allergic reactions.
Hope I could answer your queries.
Best regards.
