Hello,
The following drug combination may cause harmful interactions if they are taken together:
1. Taking Zoloft together with St. John's wort can increase the risk for a serious condition called the 'serotonin syndrome' which is characterized by confusion,
hallucination, seizure, increased blood pressure/
heart rate, fever,
excessive sweating, muscle stiffness, tremor, vomiting, and diarrhea. In its severe form, it may cause coma and even death. Serotonin syndrome can also occur if Oxycodone (Percocet) is taken along with Zoloft.
2. St. John's wort may reduce the blood levels of Oxycodone (present in Pecrocet) which may make the medicine less effective in treating your pain. Taking St. John's wort together with
simvastatin may also decrease the effects of Simvastatin and thus making it less effective in reducing high blood
cholesterol.
3. Taking Zoloft along with Lovenox can increase the risk of bleeding. So in view of the above, St. John's wort should be avoided while taking the medicines as mentioned above. The dose of the medicines should be reduced or alternate effective medicines should be used to prevent these harmful interactions.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
