Can Keppra Be Taken While Suffering From Blood Clots?

Good day my doctor has suggested changing my medication for seizures. I currently take Tegretol with no side effects but will now be taking Keppra because I developed blood clots and Eliquis should not be taken with Tegretol. Is Keppra a safe and effective medication? Thank you

Hello,

Yes, you should definitely change anti epileptic drug if you are also taking Eliquis. Tegretal is having Carbamazepine. It can affect metabolism of Equilis. So desired dose of Equilis is not achieved if you are taking Tegretal. Keppra is having Levotericitam. It is newer anti epileptic drug with least drug interactions. So it is safe to give it along with Equilis.

Hope I have answered your query.
