Can I Take Potassium Tablets For Restless Leg Syndrome?

I have been having severe leg cramps and can t sleep at night. The cramps last most of the early morning hours. I have type 2 diabetes and I m taking diaretics for high blood pressure and metformin to help with high blood sugar. I also have restless leg syndrome. I am 82 years old and am otherwise healthy. I have dry mouth , go to bathroom 4-5 times during night, Diabetes makes me thristy and so I need to drink water.Shall I take potassium tablets?

Hi, your leg cramps could be because of low potassium because of the diuretics you are on. Before using potassium tablets, make sure that you have low potassium. Over the counter intake of potassium in your age can result in serious complications like cardiac arrhythmias. Hence, a physician consultation will be of great help to you.
