Can I Gain Height After Attaining Puberty?

im 22, and 5 6 I look young for my age the last growth spurt I visably had was at 13. I lack facial hair growth and I m a black male. I have mostly been overweight since 12 a little noticable chubby however I ve now felt the urge to eat healthier and so some light excercising like ive got a burst of energy somewhere. Well my actual question is could my growth plates still be open what are the chances of me still gaining some height? My mother is 6 ft My fatheris 5 7, my uncles on both sides are over 6ft. without an x-ray is there anyway to tell?

Hello,

Unfortunately, once you got 18 years old and older, there is no way to gain more height, although your family is quite tall.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Salah Saad Shoman, Internal Medicine Specialist
