Can HIV Be Transmitted Through The Eyes?

i am a nurse and I gave a known hiv patient a nebulizer treatment and an IV-I was not wearing goggles and was sitting directly in front of the patient while she was having her treatment- I am extremely concerned and worried that the irus could have gotten into my eyes-thank you

Hi,

Welcome to HCM.

I understand your concern regarding exposure to HIV.
The exposure to HIV infected fluids or material can be determined based exposure code and status code.
There is less likely chance of exposure in your case.
Exposure risk increases if there is direct exposure of eye to infected fluid like blood or any other body fluid.
I suggest you quit worrying unnecessarily.
Universal precautions have to taken care of when dealing with any patient whether HIV positive or not.
