Can Fucidin Help Cure Wound On Toe After A Nail Fall Off?

Can I use fucidin ointment on an open wound on my toe nail bed? Nail was removed 6 weeks ago. Have had 3 courses of antibiotics (2x flucloxicillin and 1 X clindomycin). Now toe is becoming hot and red again and nail bed oozing. I don t want more oral antibiotics if can be avoided. Thank you.

Hello,

if there's pus collection then the local treatments won't help much. Systemic antibiotics would be required. If there's a big collection then drainage would be also required. You'd better consult a general surgeon to assess your toe before proceeding to any treatment option. Avoid using antibiotics without a prescription because you may induce resistant bacteria.

I hope you find my comments helpful!

Kind Regards!
