Can Fluvoxamine Dosage Exceed 300 Mg Per Day?

What are the highest dosages of fluvoxamine that have been perscribed or used in studies? 300 mg per day feels weak to me. I know this is the usual recommended maximum dosage but there must be some room to push above that dose because I m not getting any side effects at all. I ve been taking it for 2 weeks.

Hi,
As you are aware, 300 mg/day is the maximum recommended dose. Any doses higher than this does not necessarily translate into better clinical effect. But only the chances of side effects increases even though you do not have any at 300 mg/day.
The diagnosis for which fluvoxamine is prescribed is not mentioned. In absence of information I would give you a general idea. 2 weeks treatment is relatively less time to judge the efficacy of fluvoxamine. If you were my patient, I would ask you to wait for another 2-3 weeks and look for improvements. If there is still scope for improvement, adding another medication or changing over to another medication will be an option rather than increasing the dose.
I hope the above information helps you. You can discuss the above information with your doctor. Thanks fro writing into healthcaremagic. Have a wonderful day.
