Can Fluconazole Be Taken For Mouth Ulcers?

MY DOCTOR JUST GAVE ME FLUCONAZOLE 100 FOR MOUTH SORES. I'M IN AFIB ALL THE TIME AND ITS SAYS IT CAN MAKE HEART RYMTHM PROBLEMS WORSE. IS THIS SAFE FOR ME TO TAKE. I ONLY TAKE ONE A DAY FOR 7 DAYS. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. LEE

Thanks for the query..

Well, first of all I would like to tell you that Fluconazole is used to treat fungal/yeast infections..

It can be used for oral thrush that is a yeast infection and also other fungal infections in body but is not used to treat mouth sores

So first of all you need to discuss with an Oral Physician that you exactly have fungal infection or not..

As mouth sores can be due to common causes like deficiency of iron and vitamin B12, stress, physical trauma to the tongue, allergies, acid reflux, eating plenty of spicy and sour foods etc..

If it is just canker sores then you do not needs fluconazole and can do warm saline gargles, soda bicab gargles and take Vitamin B complex supplements..
