Can Duphaston Be Taken For Delayed Periods?

Hello. My nameis Dana. For a year now I had my period in time. Before that it was very irregular. I have traveld from UAE to Europe to do some medical checkups. Had some health problems few years ago and I was very stressed about the outcome. Now my period isn t coming. It is late allready 12 days. Iwas thinking it was maybe the stress that affceted me and the distance given the fact that the hour is different in Europe than UAE. I have some duphaston 10 mg at home and I was thinking if I should get it to start my period. The thing is I don t remeber exacly how to get it. Do you think it is a good ideea to do this? Can you tell me how to get it? Thank you!

Hi,

Duphaston is not forgetting periods. It's for saving the pregnancy. So in case you are pregnant, you will not get periods with Duphaston.

Even if you are non-pregnant. The withdrawal bleeding induced by Duphaston will not be like your normal period.

There would be a change in bleeding pattern, which may disturb your menstrual cycle.

So it's not advisable to take Duphaston for inducing a period. You should go for pregnancy test done to exclude pregnancy & then plan to take medicine for inducing bleeding.

In case there is no pregnancy an oral contraceptive pill like Regestrone can be taken twice daily for 5 days &period would start within 8 days of stopping the pills.

Please consult your gynaecologist for choosing suitable pill for you.
