Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can using a corticosteroid on my scalp for psoriasis be causing acne on my face? I have been using these medicines on my scalp for about 2 years. I know they have been the cause of what I believe is acne on my scalp, which made me very cautious about getting the medication on my face or any other areas. Is it possible that it causes acne through the bloodstream? Or would it only be causing acne on areas that I am putting it? Thank you for any advice that you can offer.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have acne on face which could be due to side effect of corticoseroids medications. It could be due to excessive dandruff and oily skin. I would suggest you to apply Adapelene gel once at night. Also wash your face with mild soap and cold water twice a day , exfoliate your face once a week. Apply cotton dipped in tea tree oil and apply them on acne. Take diet rich in vitamin E. Drink plenty of water. Visit dermatologist once and get it examined and go for micro-peeling and dermabrasion. You can apply aloe vera gel on them as well. Don't use ant cosmetics and hard substances on face.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
