Can Concor 5 Plus Tablets With Doubled Dose Of Alsarten Be Taken With History Of Angioplasty And Stents Placed?

Dear Doctor,
Since last 10 years I was taking Amlodipine 5 mg and Atenolol 50 mg. Since last 3 years I am suffering from swollen feet more on left foot. Recently my Cardiac Doctor stopped Amlodipine + Atenolol and replaced it prescribing
"Concor 5 plus" since last 10 days and this has resulted in reducing swelling - almost nil -.however this has effected dizziness and sleepiness. The doctor also doubled the dose of alsarten 80 + 80 = 160 mg.
In 2001, I had gone through Angio Plasty and placed two stents (non-medicated).
Please advice can I continue with this revised regimen?
Thanks for your early response.

Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

I fully agree with your modified prescription.

Concor Plus reduces the oxygen requirement of and fluid overload on the heart respectively, while Alsartan not only reduces the fluid overload but also remodels the heart. In fact, it is an IDEAL combination (Beta-blockers + ARBs).

Your dizziness and sleepiness will decrease if you keep a gap of at least 3 hours between intake of Concor and Alsartan.

If you find my response helpful and informative, do not forget an “excellent” (5-star rating) to my answer, to ENCOURAGE ALL doctors- engaged in social service- to render sound advice to the FREE queries.
