Can Ciprofloxacin HCL Be Taken Along With Triamterene HCTZ And Metoprolol?

My physician s office is now closed. She prescribed Ciprofloxacin HCL 500mg twice daily for an upper respiratory issue that may be mild pneumonia. I picked up the meds today and the pharmacist has me concerned about taking this medication indicating kidney issues, ligament issues, possible yeast infection (I m female). I take Triamterene HCTZ, Metoprolol, Lipitor, a baby aspirin at night and Xanax before bed. I m now frightened to take the antibiotic which I know is so important for getting back to good health. I ve been reading and am concerned about taking the diuretic with this new medication and other possible drug interactions. I m also wondering if it s OK to take 325 mg aspirin. Fever is currently just a little over 100. I m a 67 year old female.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Cipro may have side effects however they are not common. Tendon damage is also a side effect of this drug, but it's very rare. We generally use this drug pretty frequently and most of the times do not cause any big problem. Neither there is any major interaction with the rest of drugs so you should not worry and you can use the drug.

Hope I have answered your query.
