Can Cipla Actin Be Taken For Severe Appetite Loss?

Hello, I am hoping someone can help me. I am a 21 year old girl in university, I am a fitness enthusiast but due to multiple surgeries I had to stop indefinitely. I am still booked off. I lift weights and that had managed to help me put on some weight but in a short span of a few weeks I lost most if not all. I dropped from around 50 kilos to 44 or so, I am not sure anymore. It is exams now and I noticed how my appetite became almost non-existent. I became concerned because obviously I have already lost a bunch of weight, didnt want to make it worse. My mom advised me to go to the pharmacy and explain. They gave me CIPLA ACTIN. I have no idea what it is, tried to google it. The side effects are concerning. Long story short, can I take this? Thank you. Judy

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history of a 21 year old gil from University, undergone multiple surgeries, can not exercise much due to surgeries, losing weight, examinations nearingby, pharmacy gave Ciplactin for appetite.
Ciplactin is a good appetizer and should be taken one hour before meals.
Yes, the most alarming side effect can be sedation and you have exams coming up.
Hence you have to adjust the doses as per requirement of increasing appetite but not having much sedation.
You also have to look for other factors like stress and anxiety related to any factors in life, surgery, exams and so on and get control over these.
Also watch for the foods, try to increase oily and carbohydrate enriched foods to gain weight.
Have counselling with a Psychologist or Psychiatrist if required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
