Can Carpel Tunnel Cause Numbness In The Fingers?

I have been wearing a brace and taking anti inflammatory meds for a week now. Carpal tunnel. My shoulder continues to hurt 3-4/10 and it tingles. My index finger/thumb tingle and my index finger is numb. Is this carpal tunnel or is it possibly something else? How long do I need to wait to expect to notice a difference?
