Can Cardace And Losar Beta Be Taken Together?

My moms been taking losar beta and cardace 5 1 pill each twice morning and night for the last 20 yrs for bp. Now a doctor says this medication is never given in this combination together. He has asked me to cut out cardace5 completely. And give her 1 tablet losar in the morning and 1 losar beta at night. What shd I do

I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

Your doctor is right, the Losartan (one of the drugs contained in Losar beta) and Ramipril (Cardace) belong respectively to the ARB and ACE inhibitor groups. These groups of drugs act on different links of the same pathway. Since they act on the same pathway they can have similar side effects which add up and not more efficacy, combination with other drugs with different mechanism of action is advised.

As for which to interrupt that depends on her blood pressure values and heart rate which you do not say. Losar beta has two drugs inside, the other being atenolol, so interrupting ramipril seems the safest choice.
