Can BP Medications Cause Spongy Sensation Of Feet?

hi, i too have spongy strange feeling in the soles of my feet. i had tests for diabetes, sometimes borderline sometimes negative.my doctor says it could be the drugs i take for either blood pressure or BPH. a diabetic retinopathy test was clear. no treatment was offered nor diet advice. tho i naturally avoid sugar where i can (having read Dr, Otto Warburg s Nobel Prize acceptance speech and read a lot of his work concerning sugar and the prime cause of cancer). The BPH has seemed to create an ED problem for me. any advice would be welcomed

Hello,
I don't believe this is related to the drugs. Although you haven't mentioned how long ago your diabetes was diagnosed, I gather it's not very recent. Perhaps your doctor should test you for diabetic neuropathy because this strange feeling on the soles appears when diabetes has inflicted damage to the sensory pathways of the feet. Some patients describe it as a feeling of walking on cotton balls. Burning sensation may appear, particularly during the night.
There are some easy to do in the office tests for that and there's also a diagnostic pad that attaches to the sole and detects sweating, which can be bought and used by patients themselves. This function requires intact neural pathways in the feet. Lack of sweating can be caused by neuropathy as well.
Diabetes - particularly type 2 on metformin - also makes the patients prone to vitamin B12 deficiency which may also cause neuropathy.
I believe neuropathy (diabetic or not) is a diagnostic possibility that's worth investigating. If it proves to be your case then there are possible treatments for you symptoms. A good blood glucose regulation is essential anyway.
I hope I've given you some direction!
If you have further questions on the subject, I'll be glad to answer.
