Can Atenolol Be Taken Twice A Day To Reduce Heart Palpitations?

I ve been having heart palpitations (PVCs) and they are getting worse. My doctor prescribed 25 mg Atenolol to be taken once daily. I do feel better in the morning after taking it, but the palpitations seem to return in the afternoon and evening. Can I take it twice a day? Also, I am working in China, where the air pollution is very bad. Could my heart palpitations be caused by the air pollution?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Palpitation are more commonly caused by anxiety and hyperthyroidism. As you are a diagnosed case of PVC; anxiety and tachycardia is its presentation. Secondly, you can use atenolol 25 mg twice daily.
