Can Atenolol Be Taken During Day To Avoid The Side Effects?
I take 5 mg amlodipine and 25 mg atenolol each morning at the same time. Since I started these meds, I have unusual dreams at night ( a known side effect of atenolol). It has been suggested that I take the atenolol at night or later in the day. Do you have recommendation on this?

Though atenolol can be taken once daily, it is preferable to take this drug twice daily in two divided doses. Since atenolol is usually manufactured as plain scored tablet, it will be very easy to break the tablet into two equal halves of 12.5 mg each. This can help to minimize your side effects of unusual dreams at night in addition to producing uniform level of the drug in the blood,there by helping in better control of your blood pressure.
