Bad Behavior, Love Candies And Hide Them In Room. Could This Be A Sign Of Bipolar Disorder?

My grandson which is 13 years old has meltdowns and very bad behavior when this happens. He of course loves candy and has even eaten sugar raw and will sometimes hide candy in his room. I know my daughter does not tell me all the issues she has with him but we are concerned. She does not have medical insurance and therefore can not bring him anywhere to get help. Could this be a sign of bypolar?

Hi,

This does not suggests he has bipolar disorder.
The different feelings and behavior is normal and if we keep questioning all the behavior with children then they end up with some other problem. So better to leave him and give what ever he likes like sugar/candy. Create pleasing atmosphere around him, have happy family. This will help him.
If still you feel some problem then discuss with your daughter once about him and then consult the doctor.

Regards
